Let’s Party at Dudley’s!

We are celebrating our 3rd Grand Opening Anniversary and we need you! This economy has not made it easy for a new business to survive but here we are after 3 years and we’re throwing a HUGE TASTING PARTY to thank you all and celebrate!!

When I saw this Facebook post from Ginger Giordano, Dudley’s Wine and Gifts Marketing Director,  I knew that Dudley’s was the place to go last Saturday night.  So after making all the usual and necessary sitting arrangements, my husband and I headed on over.  The first thing we saw was Temecula Carriage Company with a  elegant horse drawn carriage donned with  similarly elegant drivers, parked in front of Dudley’s waiting to take customers on free one-of-a-kind rides.  Yep, we were in the right place and we were excited about the evening ahead.

We walked in and Dudley’s was already hopping with dozens of party-goers, many already deep into their wine tastings.  We grabbed our glasses and tasting list and dove right in ourselves.  The tasting list was typical of the fantastic offerings at Dudley’s – a fine selection of wines from around the world that delight the senses.

Our first taste was the Prosecco Di Valdobiadene sparkling wine from Italy.  Wow!  This wine was just the right amount of sweetness and bubbles. It went down  easy and I was immediately ready for more.

Chris & Eric Dudley

Next came another white – a  wonderful Rudeda Verdejo from Spain,  followed by a  Rosé from Paso Robles’ Halter Ranch.  Then, the folks at Dudley’s decided the next wine should be a red from France that uses the exact same grapes as the Rosé.  We loved the comparison and found it to be a somewhat similar delicious taste but definitely richer.  We went on to try a great Shiraz  from Australia, a Bolgheri from Italy and a Cabernet also from Italy.

As we tasted our wines we soaked in the friendly celebratory, atmosphere.  A smiling Eric Dudley chatted with customers as he poured from behind the bar, while Chris Dudley made her way around the crowd, pouring as she went.  Occasionally, Eric would yell out for the crowd to quiet down, and when we obliged he’d make a grand announcement such as, “just so you know anything you buy today is 20 percent off and the proceeds go to a good cause – mine and Chris’ pockets!”   The crowd loved it and laughed appreciatively.

At one point, Gabriella, a regular customer asked Eric to get the crowd’s attention for her own announcement.  She thanked Chris and Eric for Dudley’s since it offered a great place for her to come in and relax.  It was wonderful tribute and the crowd applauded with gusto.

Since it really was a party, the husband and I took our time to mingle and chat with everyone around us. We had to keep squeezing in between Susan Valles and Tina Koonce to get our glasses filled, so I decided I might as well introduce myself and make a couple of new friends.  They said this was their first time at Dudley’s but were definitely coming back.  “We usually have a Wednesday night girls get together with our other friends and when it’s my turn to choose where we go, we are definitely coming here.”  Tina told me.  They also said that that wine sample number eight, the Cabernet Sauvignon from Australia was their favorite. It so happened to be next on my list and gave it a sip.  Yes it was fabulous wine just how I like it – rich and dense.  (Oh, I see a joke there but I will refrain!)

We ended with a fabulously sweet Fine Muscat by R.L. Buller.  Then my new friends at the bar told me there was one more tasting  “off list” and sure enough Chris poured us the final taste.  They definitely saved one  of the best for last that’s for sure!  This Fior d’Arancio from Stella Rosa had an orange sweetness and was the perfect way to end the evening.

As the party wound down, the husband and I made plans to return for other events.  We also made sure to pick up their World Wine Club brochure.  What a fun opportunity to taste wonderful wines from everywhere every five weeks.  With many wine club member benefits, this is a great way to enjoy everything Dudley’s has to offer.
