Well it was another great meet -up last Wednesday at Sweet Lumpy’s with the TOT’ers. As usual the kitchen pumped out some awesome food for the packed house. For me it was the pulled pork, with a healthy helping of the sweet barbeque sauce, while some of the ladies preferred the cool crisp salads. One TOT staff person enjoyed her salad topped with Sweet Lumpy’s famous barbecue chicken. It was so moist, she almost forgot to add her tasty raspberry vinaigrette. We also had a 10 year old in our midst, and he thoroughly enjoyed the free peanuts before the food was served. Then, when they brought out his huge bacon-cheeseburger, his eyes widened with delight. Honestly, it was so big he ended up saving most of it for later.
Many enjoyed several local wines which Ian brought for us, covering himself by having both white and red that not only complimented many of our meals but was was donated by a local favorite Wine On A Dime. All the entrees looked picture perfect as everyone complimented on how wonderful the food was. One of our guests told us that he has family visit from all over but he said when ever they come to the area they always say the same thing…”we have to go to that BBQ place you took us to the last time we were here.” He said its great cause it gives him the perfect excuse to enjoy some of his favorite BBQ.
We ate, we drank and we all really enjoyed time to relax and just be in the moment. Just when we thought we could not feel more satisfied out came several slices of the most amazing, warm apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream a top…, and yes, it was sooo good!
There were some great prizes raffled off with everything from a free pair of Brand Name shoes, courtesy of Bella Hand Bags, to a 2 for 1 wine tasting. Bob took the Nothing Bundt Cakes prize, which seems to be the golden ticket here in Temecula. He was very happy with that, having had the pleasure of those tasty treats before. Sigh… I must get there soon, because I certainly love cake!
It was my first time to a Taste of Temecula Meet and Greet, it was a pleasure to meet Ian and Johanna, also Bob Kaler who was there snapping the pictures. I spoke with the manager Cathy at Sweet Lumpy’s, who mentioned that they will be continuing live music on the patio every Friday and Saturday night through Labor Day Weekend, with a great time planned during Rod Run weekend in October. We will see how the weather holds out as we slowly approach the fall. Keep an eye out for TOT with so many great events coming up their web page is sure to keep us all updated.
Ian shared with many of us some exciting things in the works for Taste of Temecula fans, winers and diners, as well as another “Man vs Food” gut busting event coming up at Sweet Lumpy’s this Thursday, helping to raise money for the Chapparal Football Team as three players go head to head to try and beat the food. We will see this Thursday if the three challengers have got what it takes. (GO PUMAS!) Come out at 6:00 pm for one really fun event that will help raise funds for the team. There will be raffle items, from many local businesses, sign up for the IPAD Giveaway, enjoy live music, Craft Beer will have their Rhino on display, and I heard there will be 4 tickets to the TVFEE Rockin’ Blues & Folk Festival raffled off for Friday Night compliments of Golden Crown. Well as you can see their will be great prizes, awesome food and the joy of seeing who will win… Man or Food.
Meanwhile, the next ToT meet up has not yet been announced, but make sure to pencil it in when it pops up. It’s a great way to network and enjoy a great afternoon with some nice people. Hope to see you all there!
