ToT’s Lunch Meet-Up Travels Back in Time

Taste of Temecula’s went “Olde World” for our most recent bi-weekly Meet-Up Lunch as we enjoyed the European vibe of Barley & Hops Family Tavern – the only true “beer bar” in Temecula.

With over 250 beers from around the world to choose from (41 are on tap – wow!), Barley & Hops backs up their “beer bar” claim. Personally, I’ve visited B&H numerous occasions, and each time it takes me about 10 minutes to decide which beer to start off with! Seriously – it’s a beer lover’s heaven – the best brews from Denmark, Belgium, the U.K., Ireland, the U.S., the Czech Republic, Germany, and England (and more) are all readily available. For those wishing to take a tour around the world via amazing beers, B&H is your first-class plane ticket.

But a lunch wouldn’t be a lunch without food, right? And man, does B&H have a huge menu filled with American and European-style selections! From Bangers & Mash to Shepherd’s Pie to Schnitzle Holstein to traditional pizzas to Meatloaf to Fish & Chips, Barley & Hops has amazing tavern-style food selections for everyone. But bring king-sized appetite – they don’t skimp on the portions!

Besides their amazing beer and food options, B&H is also a fantastic place to catch televised sporting events (they have 8 flat screen TVs), enjoy a game of pool or darts in their “Draft Room,” or check out a local band. In fact, I rocked out to local faves the 4019’s here not too long ago (read my ToT story here). Their back room is also the perfect place to have a private party or hold a meeting, as the Master Minds do every Wednesday morning. On this day, a number of Master Minds attendees joined our lunch after their meeting took place – a perfect “meeting of the minds.” Ha!

And that’s what ToT’s Lunch Meet-Ups are all about – meeting new friends, sharing laughs with current ones, and establishing business contacts along the way. Among the ToT “lunch-goers,” in attendance today were Rocky Osborn & Kim May from He Said She Said Matchmaking Services, Jeanine Otavka (owner – Vital Therapies), and Wishes For Children Foundation Founder/President Charlie Pate. We were also serenaded by the lovely harmonies of impromptu trio Molly Mackin, Lily McCabe of Swift Pony, and Jessie Andra Smith. Their angelic voices blended seamlessly with Molly’s & Jessie’s acoustic guitars and Lily’s violin as they delved into traditional folk, country, and classic pop songs. I want this new group to be my personal soundtrack everywhere I go. 🙂

Barley & Hops also likes to keep things interesting by hosting monthly events. For instance, this past January saw their Belgian Style Strong Ale Festival take place, February had their Russian River Week, and April included their 4th Annual Pub Crawl. This coming Saturday – May 21st – is their 4th Annual West Coast Brewery Festival, where for a mere $30, one can sample up to 8 amazing beers from California and Oregon (includes a special taster glass). It’s taking place from noon to 10pm – click here for more details.

I’ll buy ya a beer when I see you…
