TVP Presents “Jesus Christ Superstar”

The Temecula Valley Players, a non-profit community theatre group that has been performing in the Temecula Valley for over 25 years, will present the spectacular musical Jesus Christ Superstar at the Old Town Temecula Community Theater April 7-24. This rock opera is a 200-year old story set 40-year old music and it still has a fresh, timeless appeal. Jesus Christ Superstar illuminates the transcendent power of the human spirit with passion that goes straight to the heart. Christ’s final days are dramatized with emotional intensity, thought-provoking edge, and explosive theatricality.

Jesus Christ Superstar was Andrew Lloyd Webber & Tim Rice’s first professionally-staged show on Broadway in 1972. Take the music of Webber & the lyrics of Rice, then add the voices of Jason Call as Jesus, Winston Peacock as Judas, Barbara Chiofalo as Mary Magdalene, and Kit Fugard as Pontius Pilate, as well as a supporting cast of vocal excellence bar none, and you have a slice of Heaven.

This production has been a dream for Director Mark McCullough, buoyed by a strong team that consists of Victoria Mora Collins (Music Director), Ali Whitman (Choreographer), Brad Hinkson (Conductor), and Mickie Grunwald (Costumer).
