If you’ve never really ventured off of Rancho California Rd. and it’s popular wine tasting room “row” and you’ve always wanted to discover the gorgeous wineries along the “off-beaten path” of De Portola Rd., then this Sunday is the perfect opportunity for new wine adventures. The Big Red Fest is taking place this Sunday, April 3rd (from 10am-5pm) and will showcase each of the 9 Temecula wineries that call the De Portola Wine Trail “home.”
For a cheap $40 ticket (get them now before the price goes up to $50 starting March 31st) you’ll taste 3 wines from each winery, paired with gourmet food selections at each stop. And of course you get to keep your logo wine glass! Take this day to discover Masia de Yabar’s lovely outdoor patio and their just-arrived Malbec; Cougar Winery’s focus on Italian varietals; Frangipani’s “old world” style of wine making and their bocce ball court; Danza Del Sol’s new tasting room and their outta-this-world white wines; Leonesse Cellars’ fantastic view and bold red wines; Oak Mountain’s Raspberry Sparkling and avocado oils; Gershon Bachus’ Tuscan-style villa; Robert Renzoni’s Old Vine Zins; and Keyways’ relaxing “living room” and their ’09 Tempranache. No doubt there’s a wine and winery for everyone on this picturesque stretch of the Temecula Valley.
So this Sunday, veer off onto Anza Rd. and connect with Temecula’s “other” wine trail – De Portola. You may just find your new favorite winery. ☺
