Bikers Invade Jul’s Backyard BBQ

Are you new to the “biker” world?  Have you just purchased your very first bike (maybe a Harley-Davidson Road Glide Custom or Yamaha Road Star Silverado) and ready to hit the road for weekend rides, but have no one to ride with?  Or perhaps you’re a bike aficionado–you own numerous motorcycles–but have just moved to the greater Temecula area ,and are searching to find like-minded friends?  Maybe you’re just tired of seeing the same old faces in your “gang” and want to expand your horizons, and meet some new fellow riders.  Where can one go to accomplish all of the above?  Well, thanks to Temecula Motorsports, the answer is easy:  they’re hosting Bike Nite every Thursday throughout the summer at Jul’s Backyard BBQ in Old Town Temecula.

It actually makes too much sense.  With its expansive outdoor grounds, picnic tables, outside bar, plenty of easy front-row parking for your bike, and–get this–not one, but TWO horseshoe pits (!), Jul’s Backyard BBQ is the perfect meeting place for bikers of all walks of life.  I stopped by this past Thursday for their first Bike Nite to check out the scene and had a blast.  It’s a fun, relaxing, kick-back spot.

Kevin from Blue Rhino Creative spun “classic rock” tunes (the Who, Led Zeppelin, the Stones, George Thorogood, etc.) and acted as the evening’s emcee, taking time in between tracks to give away cool door prizes, including Temecula Motorsports t-shirts.  One lucky fan even went home with a brand new bike helmet–not bad, for just stopping by to catch a beer with friends.

Jul’s offers money-saving beer specials ($1 domestic drafts & $3 pitchers) while providing tasty BBQ (give the tri-tip sandwich a shot–it hits the spot for just $3.50).  For those who have perhaps a more discerning beer palate, Jul’s has an impressive selection of craft beers on tap.  My fellow Taste of Temecula colleagues (Mike Chava and Juanita Gates) and myself enjoyed a refreshingly light Firehouse Brewing Co. Hefeweizen ($10 pitcher), for example.  An unfiltered wheat beer always goes with good BBQ.

While Temecula Motorsports will be the main host each and every Thursday at Jul’s, the plan is to have different sponsors (Honda, Can-Am, Yamaha, Kawasaki, etc.) take over weekly.  Whoever the sponsor, each Thursday at Jul’s Backyard BBQ is going to be THE place to meet up with old friends, grab a brew, meet NEW friends, and plan your next weekend ride.

So don your best leather, grab your compadres, ride into Old Town Temecula, and help make Jul’s this summer’s official biker “backyard.”
