Dunamix Dance Project
Dunamix Dance Project is a Christian based dance studio that teaches Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Modern and even Swing. Choreographer and Studio owner Nicole Thomas presented a different take on the Christmas ballet classic, “The Nutcracker.” Nicole wove her own Christian beliefs into the familiar story and presented “The Truth About The Nutcracker”. In addition to classical ballet, there were also swing dancing mice, and hip-hop rats. Some contemporary Christian music was added to Tchaikovsky’s score. The overall affect was one that reminded me of my own family’s Christmas celebration. It was a blend of traditional elements, and new modern touches. It was delightful.
I was interested in Dunamix Dance Project because I have two daughters who both love dance. Nicole has taught and performed ballet for many years, and was looking for a high quality dance studio for her own daughters. She was willing to send her daughters to a secular dance studio, but couldn’t find one that offered all that she wanted.
“We have many more dance studios now than when I started,” Nicole said. “If some of them were here then, I never would have started mine.”
Many are happy that Nicole did start her studio. For some families, a Christian dance studio is a blessing in more ways than one. Parents of dancers are often concerned with the modesty of their children’s costumes. At Dunamix, it will never be an issue. I was happy to know that the quality of the instruction was as high as the ethical and spiritual expectations. In addition to the Christian based classes, Dunamix also offers charter classes, which have no religious overtones.
Dunamix Dance Project will be holding a grand opening on January 2nd, 2010 to celebrate their new location. There will be free classes, pony rides, and jump houses. Come out and see if a different kind of dance studio is just the right dance studio for your family.
